A simple step by step guide on how to accurately measure your windows.
Window blinds can be installed to either the recess of the window know as a “Top Fix” or on the face of the wall known as a “Face Fix” in most cases the blinds would be installed using the Top Fix process providing you have at least 3 inches of depth within the recess. To measure the recess you will need a tape measure, pen and paper, the first step would be to measure the width of the window. From one side of the window recess to the other along the top of the recess. Once measured note it down in inches. Your next step is the drop of the window, here you will need to measure from the top of the recess to the bottom where the window sill starts. Repeat this twice at different parts of the window recess to ensure the window is square. Once completed note down the drop. You can then pass your measurements on to us where we will subtract your sizes to the dimensions of our mechanisms within the head rails to ensure the width fits perfectly. The drop is also subtracted when Vertical blinds are manufactured this ensures each slat is 1-3mm above the sill for a great finish.

Another way to measure your window is called the Face Fix option, this is on the face of the wall and is used when obstructions occur within the recess such as windows or doors opening inwards, recess depth limited, large telephone sockets etc. To begin with you will need to measure the width of the window and because the blind is going to be attached to the face of the wall you will need to add a further 6 inches to your measurement, this is added to ensure any gaps are covered from any angle. If the extra inches are not added then potential the window may not be fully covered. To measure the drop you begin to measure 2.5 inches from the top of the window down to the bottom of the window sill. Repeat the process in 2 different areas to ensure the window is square. Once you have the measurement you can pass them to us so we can make the necessary adjustments to ensure your blinds fit and look perfect.

The 2 above processes are to be used when measuring straight windows. This will then allow us to apply any type of blinds such as Roman, Roller, Vertical and Venetian blinds.
